Safari Blue Website & Rebranding

Safari Blue is Zanzibar's most talked about sea adventure! Safari Blue is the only operator licensed to use the name “Safari Blue”.  It is their registered trade name, not a generic term for any Zanzibar boat trip. Our brief was to slightly rebrand Safari Blue and give their old website a makeover.

Safari Blue began life back in 1995 and its owner Eleanor is passionate about Zanzibar, respecting it’s people and culture and preserving the stunning environment.  So it had high visibility but needed to stand out and appear way ahead of any imitators in searches.  So what and how did we handle this amazing opportunity to market this unique Zanzibar tour company?

Challenge

The Challenge: Building a Legacy Online

Safari Blue, Zanzibar’s well-known sea adventure operator since 1996, needed a website that matched the quality of its in-person experiences. The main goal was to create a modern, effective website, https://safariblue.net/, that reinforced the brand as the “Original Safari Blue operator” and made it easier for customers to go from finding to booking.

This project included a complete rebranding, designing a new logo, setting up a solid process for managing online content, and adding advanced SEO and user experience features.

Requirements

Technical Foundation: Speed, Security, and Simply IT Hosting

A key focus for the relaunch was improving website performance and security, understanding the strong connection between speed and conversion rates (UX/UI). This was accomplished with a smart technology stack:

  • Optimized Template for Performance (UX/UI): The new website was designed using a clean, well-coded WordPress Elementor template. This choice was vital for achieving an attractive design while keeping the code lightweight, essential for a fast-loading user experience.
  • Superfast Dedicated Hosting (Google Page Load Speeds & Security): Safari Blue worked with Simply IT for its hosting, choosing a superfast dedicated hosting service based in Europe. This decision provided several important benefits:
  1. Exceptional Page Load Speeds: Dedicated hosting is not shared with other sites, which prevents resource conflicts and results in consistently fast loading times, improving Google Page Load speeds and user experience.
  2. Enhanced Security: By opting for dedicated hosting, Simply IT added an extra layer of security, ensuring the Safari Blue website is protected from the risks tied to shared hosting environments.

Branding

The “Original” Brand & Visual Integrity

A key part of the redesign was a simple but impactful brand update. The new approach highlights the company’s history as the only fully licensed operator.

  • New Logo Use: The main “Original” brand image was strengthened through careful logo design. Internal records indicate that time was dedicated to converting the logo into various professional formats, including SVG and PDF, ensuring it looks great on all digital and print materials.
  • Image Watermarking: To safeguard the valuable library of visual content—including stunning photos of the Kwale Island Sand Bar, dhows, and food—a system for watermarking was created. The “Watermark Original Safari Blue White on Transp.png” file ensures that the images on the new website are protected and clearly associated with the official Safari Blue brand.

Multilingual Visibility

A Multilingual, Conversion-Focused Digital Experience

The website relaunch focused on User Experience (UX), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and a strong Call-to-Action (CTA) plan to improve conversions.

• Effective UX/UI and CTA Strategy: The new website design and user interface (UI) aim to create a smooth experience like the trip itself. Clear content flow highlights the main offer—an “amazing day of water activities”—and outlines the daily plan:

  1. Morning: Depart from Fumba, reach the sandy sandbank, and go snorkeling at two reefs.
  2. Afternoon: Savor the famous Kwale Island Feast at Chakula Chema restaurant (serving delicious seafood, over 10 exotic fruits, coffee, and Amarula liqueur), followed by exploring the island and a relaxing dhow ride back.

Multi-Language SEO Benefit: A key factor for SEO success is having multi-language support for visitors from important markets. The Safari Blue team speaks English, Italian, and French, as well as Spanish and Portuguese, which provides a strong base. The new website uses this skill by making sure the main content is well translated, helping to improve search rankings and serve a diverse international audience.

Search Engine Rich Content

FAQ Schema Implementation

To boost visibility on Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) and give quick answers to user questions in AI searches, the site now uses FAQ schema markup. This highlights common questions about the trip, like the 85% chance of seeing dolphins or details on the seafood buffet, in search results.

The Connected Journey: Social Media Integration

Recognizing the shareable nature of the Safari Blue experience, the redesign focused on connecting with social platforms to build community and promote the brand.

The website fully integrates key social channels, like Instagram (@safari_blue_zanzibar) and Facebook (Safari Blue Zanzibar), creating a digital space that boosts interaction and highlights the genuine, “legendary” spirit of the adventure.
